    I have created stitched panoramas, cropped panoramas, and single-shot panoramas. All worked well.

    Toma, we both enjoy photographing trails in the forest. There are a lot of panoramas of grand views outside of the forest. I like the idea of doing a panorama inside the forest and including a trail. I hope you will discuss this in more detail in the future. I'm curious how you handle getting everything in focus when you have plants and trees that are very close and will be included in the panorama. Can you also do a panorama with your camera close to the ground? Also, what do you think are the best sizes for panoramas?

    • @BonciuToma
      @BonciuToma День назад

      I like to do panoramas of 5 shots, although 6 would make a wider view that is a classic panorama. I tried to do a panorama close to the ground but I didn't stiched it yet to see how it looks. Because the focal length is higher than 35mm (often above 50mm) the planta cloae to me are not in the frame

    Do you use Adobe products to do your stitching or another program not Adobe based?

    I only recently discovered Michael Kenna, and was immediately smitten. A point he emphasizes in many of his interviews is how helpful it is to study the work of other photographers, to the degree that he has gone to the locations used by some of his favorites, immersing himself fully in their oeuvre. Very much like what you're doing in your "Learn From Other Artists" series. I stumbled on this one while searching Michael Kenna. I'll now move on to the next! Thank you for your analysis of Michael's approach. A good distillation.

    It looks like you took an otherwise boring shot and made it magic with post-processing. If you could do a video on that, it would be helpful. It looks like you did heavy vignetting and cranked up the contrast. Thanks for your videos!

    Excellent tips so thanks! One thing I took away from your photos is that even the examples of when NOT to convert to B&W still looked awesome. Looking forward to your other videos. I find that photography in the forest is the most challenging subject matter. Mine forest shots all look boring but granted, catching the forest on a foggy day is no simple task for the hobby photographer.

    🌺🌻🌺 As you and others have said before, take the time to figure out what ones eye is actually catching within the whole of what your eye is seeing.... or something like that. I miss it often but thanks to cropping within software I can train myself to see what I was seeing and not all that my eye saw.

    OK, I have lived here forever... there are no "grand vistas", nothing exceptional and nothing much of interest. I've been all over my area in my 70 plus years. While I do take pictures where I can but its not much fun. Not very compelling views. hum drum to say the least. Oh well. carry on. Good video. Great points and made me think differently so maybe I can do better with my black and white next outing.

    enjoying this ( thank you), until you suggested photo stacking = cheating / dishonest that what AIs do, they are false. If we do that, lets give the whole thing to a tin box AI and take the humanity out of photography. i will use lightroom to correct weaknesses in my camera's representation of what human eyes do with the world. that's enough.Use tools to express what i thought i saw.

    Do you have to use the plate??? Or is the head Arca Swiss? I use an L bracket .. don’t want a plate

    • @BonciuToma
      @BonciuToma 2 месяца назад

      I also have an L bracket. The head is Arca Swiss compatible

  • @davidg3307
    @davidg3307 2 месяца назад

    The extra knob on the head, just below the arca Swiss clamp looks like it is for panoramas. No need for a levelling plate/ball, just get the camera level using the ball head , lock it tight. Then pan the camera around by loosening that extra knob. Or perhaps it’s designed for another purpose?

    • @BonciuToma
      @BonciuToma 2 месяца назад

      I didn't use it yet. For me it serves the same function as the rotation of the head

    Every living creature on this planet, every living tree, bush, shrub and flower is part of the fabric of the tapestry that forms life on Earth. We as human beings the sooner realise this the better for us and for this unique jewel of a planet in the galaxy. I sometimes get close to tears thinking what we are doing to each other and to ths planet in the name of commerce, money, greed, power or ideology. You mentioned Adams. He championed conservation by his unsurpassed photographs of the natural landscape when conservationism was neither fashionable nor that anyone cared. We need people like him now more than any other time. Beautiful photography and very nice video. Thank you.

    For me it is also a crime to deforest a large area with large 'harvesters' to make profit. Trees are huge living beeings, always friendly, give living space and food for many animals, they plan for the next year, react on their surroundings, and when they get into a skew position or partially break off, they try to counterbalance or cast out new branches or a new stem, and fight to survive. And when they realise that they cannot defeat death anymore, they produce as much seeds as possible for the next generation. In the vicinity of the town where I live are huge areas completely deforested and this looks to sad, ugly, and shocking. It is at least good to know that other people feel the same way and get motivated to fight for nature reservation.

    Why, oh why, oh why that bloody annoying background music. I watch youtubes for information. If I want to listen to music TO MY TASTE I will turn on the radio or get some iTunes. You have a foreign accent plus that audio quality is poor. So in contradiction to your message to keep the foreground simple you introduce noise into the audio track. Do you think I'm going to get bored because there is no sound in the brief moment when you pause to take a breath? I am not criticising you for having a foreign accent but adding extraneous complications to the already poor audio track is just poor production.

    I tend to gravitate towards woodland portraiture when I'm out. In my area, the woodlands are so overgrown and crowded that you can't get a nice shot with full depth of field unless there's very heavy fog. Creating that separation between a single tree and everything behind it is doable if you use panoramas with low apertures. This is because when you get close and use a wide aperture, and then do a panorama, you effectively end up with a wider aperture than you would normally get with a wider lens that can capture the final stitched image. I enjoy using this technique for waterfalls too... nobody does that.
